The Nepal Geotechnical Society (NGS), in collaboration with Universal Engineering & Science College (UESC) and SOTEN, successfully organized a special guest lecture delivered by Dr. Scott Anderson<\/strong>, Principal Engineer at BGC Engineering, Canada, and former Senior Leader at the U.S. Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).<\/p>\n

Dr. Anderson presented on \u201cThe Practice of Transportation and Geotechnical Asset Management in North America,\u201d<\/strong> offering valuable insights into geohazard risk management, resilience-focused planning, and proven frameworks widely implemented across North America. With over 35 years of distinguished experience, his session provided meaningful knowledge and inspiration to both students and professionals.<\/p>\n

More than 70 participants, \"\"<\/strong>including Master\u2019s students, faculty members, and early-career engineers\u2014attended the event, reflecting strong interest and active engagement in this important technical subject.<\/p>\n

The program commenced with warm and thoughtful Welcome Remarks by Er. Pallavi Sapkota<\/strong>, a Master\u2019s student of Geotechnical Engineering at Pulchowk Campus, setting a positive and engaging tone for the event.<\/p>\n

The lecture was followed by a highly interactive Q\/A session<\/strong>, where participants actively engaged with Dr. Anderson, gaining clarity on practical methodologies, ongoing research directions, and real-world applications in the field of geotechnical and transportation infrastructure.<\/p>\n

Following Dr. Anderson\u2019s impactful presentation, a Token of Love<\/strong> was presented by Dr. Mandip Subedi<\/strong> (Immediate Past President, NGS), Er. Jibendra Mishra<\/strong> (Vice President, NGS), and Er. Sadhuram Lamichhane<\/strong> (HOD, Department of Civil Engineering, UESC) in appreciation of his contribution.<\/p>\n

The event concluded with meaningful Closing Remarks from Er. Kalpana Adhikari<\/strong> (General Secretary, NGS), who highlighted the strong and ongoing collaboration between NGS, BGC Engineering, UESC, and SOTEN in advancing geotechnical capacity-building in Nepal.<\/p>\n

NGS extends its sincere gratitude to Dr. Scott Anderson<\/strong> for sharing his expertise and for his continued support to Nepal\u2019s geotechnical community.
