Nepal Geotechnical Society has decided to organize GeoMandu, an international conference series, every two years beginning May 2022. The first international symposium was held in 2014 in the name of Geohazards-2014 in association with ATC3 (Asian Technical Committee on Geotechnology for Natural Hazards), and about two years after that the second international symposium was held in 2016 in the name of GIZ2016 in association with ATC10 (Asian Technical Committee on Urban Geoinformatics). These two are the only international events organized by Nepal Geotechnical Society.
In May 2019 (Due to Nepal Government\’s decision to hold local body elections during the same time, the conference date has now been rescheduled for 15-16 October 2022 >> 16-17 March 2023), we planned to hold an international conference on geotechnical engineering in Kathmandu in May 2020, but the COVID-19 situation led us to postpone it for May 2021 (because of uncertainties, we had to confine this plan within the executive committee). As the situation did not get better and we did not see any possibility of holding an international event in Nepal, we had to remain silent for some time. With the improvement in the situation and increased possibilities of international travels with the progress in vaccination, we have now come to a decision that by May 2022 things will be a lot easier and an international conference will be possible to organize. So, we are now moving forward to hold an international conference in a conference series name of GeoMandu.
GeoMandu will be the name of our biennial international conference series, and each international conference will have a theme. This time, the first GeoMandu will be held on the theme of \”Geohazards and Geo-Infra Disasters.\” The dates will be 16-18 May 2022 15-16 October 2022 16-17 March 2023. We look forward to a large number of international as well as national participants.
Other details will follow.

Great idea. All the best. Let me know, if there is something I can do from my end.
