Result of NGS Photography Competition 2021

On the occasion of 9th National Science Day, Nepal Geotechnical Society (NGS) organized a Photo Competition under the auspices of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, the GoN. With a theme of ‘Science and Technology for Disaster Mitigation and Management’, the purpose of the competition was to raise students’, professionals’ and researchers’ awareness of the importance of science and technology in disaster mitigation and management.
The photo submission period was set for 25th to 31st of Bhadra, and within this period, we received submissions from 52 individuals. Out of the total submitted photos, based on the conditions of submission, we had to filter only 32 valid and relevant responses from 2 female and 30 male participants. In total, 60 photos were valid and were eligible for evaluation. Participants of the competition included young geotechnical engineers, geoscientists, students of the master/bachelor program civil engineering, students of master/bachelor in geology/ engineering geology and civil engineering professionals.
Based on the scores given to each submitted photo by our learned evaluators, we have summarized the results and would like to publish the winners of the competition as follows.
First Prize:
Abinash Aryal (Score: 84.75%)
Prize: Rs. 20,000 with certificate
Second Prize:
Tika Regmi (Score: 84.5%)
Prize: Rs. 12,000 with certificate
Third Prize:
Susan Vaidya (Score: 83%)
Prize: Rs. 7,500 with certificate
Compliment Prize:
Sulabh Majgainya (Score: 82.75%)
Ujjwal Khatiwada (Score: 82%)
Prize: Rs. 5,000 with certificate each
Note 1: All other valid photo submitters will be given a certificate of participation and a letter of appreciation.
Note 2: All winner photographs will be published on NGS Souvenir and NGS Conference ‘GeoMandu’ to be held in May 2022.
